TITLE: Sr. Backend Engineer
EMPLOYER: Fiserv Solutions, LLC
LOCATION: Milwaukee, WI (and various unanticipated locations throughout the US subject to authorization from management)
DUTIES: Develop and maintain backend microservices supporting functionality across backend platforms. Analyze SQL queries that can be moved from the primary database to the replica. Analyze ineffective Memcached and Redis usage. Assist in the creation of a robust notification preferences platform that is extensible to all supported channels. Work with other teams to help design and implement scalable solutions that meet business needs while maintain or improving reliability of the system. Provide on-call support for production issues. Streamline our integration and deployment processes. Participate in design and code reviews.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field and 7 years in any job title involving software engineering and system design experience. Prior experience must include: 6 years with server-side programming in Java; 3 years working with MySQL and JDBC to create performant queries and improve performance of existing queries; 3 years developing REST web services; 3 years working with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Junit and Git version control; 3 years working with Linux and Unix environments; 3 years architecting microservice-based systems; and 2 years working with DevOps, CI/CD, GitOps, and Agile methodologies.
