About the Team: The SD-WAN team at Comcast is responsible for delivering advanced network solutions that cater to businesses' evolving connectivity and security needs. This team combines expertise in networking, cloud technologies, and managed services to implement and support SD-WAN solutions.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based Linux systems.
- Proactively monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement. Respond to and resolve incidents quickly and effectively.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to networking, security, and system failures.
- Debug production issues across multiple levels of the stack (networking, application, and system).
- Manage and execute deployments for new features, updates, and patches with minimal downtime.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, encryption, and compliance checks.
- Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure system integrity.
- Work closely with other teams to design and implement scalable and resilient systems.
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of infrastructure and network solutions and components.
- Maintain regular attendance and be available for occasional nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:
- Mandatory Skills:
- Linux Operating System: Expert-level knowledge of Linux OS. Proficient in managing and configuring Linux environments like Ubuntu..
- Automation Tools: Strong experience with Ansible and Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Networking: Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including subnetting, network, IP tables, TCP/IP, routing protocols, and switching, BGP and IPSEC protocols
- Programming/Scripting: Sound knowledge on Python/Shell or similar scripting languages.
- Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Cloud Technologies: Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- DevOps and CI/CD: Experience with DevOps tools and practices for continuous integration and deployment.
- VNF Functions: Knowledge of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and their role in network management.
Experience Level:
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or similar roles
- This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong background in SRE and automation, looking to take on a leadership role in managing advanced network solutions.
