What does a successful Data Conversion Programmer do at Fiserv?
You will be part of a team that works directly with new clients to convert their existing credit card portfolios onto Fiserv processing platforms. This team includes project managers, data analysts, and conversion programmers, who perform initial reviews of a client's data files, develop extensive reports, and utilize custom tools to analyze data. You will develop technical specifications for converting the data, present these specifications to the client, write the conversion programs and processes, and assist with testing/loading processes.
What you will do:
- Perform technical data conversion programming and deliver project milestones from initiation through closure.
- Program complex technical requirements for conversion programs and create data conversion mapping programs and processes.
- Partner with data conversion analysts and business analysts to identify business needs and technical solutions.
- Ensure the quality of data conversion output, including data, files, reports, statements, and plastics.
- Validate offline system and output testing of data conversion files and debug complex code and processes.
- Participate in mocks and other client events with clients and Fiserv partners.
- Build partnerships with clients, product owners, application development teams, and program management colleagues.
- Monitor and report progress, identify risks and issues, and manage or escalate appropriately while adhering to internal processes and best practices.
What you will need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in COBOL, mainframe applications, IBM JCL, and TSO/TPX
- 3+ years of experience in the MS Office suite with a focus on Excel or Word
- 1+ year(s) of current Fiserv experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS/MIS, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics
