*Responsibilities*
The individual joins a multi-disciplinary staff of health care and service providers researchers and public health and community experts to coordinate the day to day activities related to conducting training workshops and webinars for Welcome Baby program staff and their affiliated home visitation programs for high risk mothers.
Welcome Baby is a voluntary program including both hospital and home-based visits offered to pregnant and postpartum women residing in Los Angeles County. This program aims to assist families to maximize the health safety and security of new babies build strong parent-child relationships and to facilitate access to support and services when needed. Welcome Baby is implemented through agencies across Los Angeles County and funded by First 5 LA.
This work will include working closely with Senior Public Health Research Associate to develop and coordinate training workshops webinars and conference calls. Requires the ability to exchange information answer questions and offer guidance either face-to-face through written correspondence online or via the telephone with individuals inside and outside the organization on a continual basis.
*Qualifications*
- Minimum 2 yrs. work experience in providing public health or community education.
- Masters in Public Health Maternal and Child Health focus Health Behavior/Health Education Behaviorial Science Infant Child Development Nursing or Similiar field preferred.
- Coursework in maternal and child health education Behavioral Science Infant/Child development nursing or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and direct experience with providing training to multi-disciplinary multi-cultural groups.
- Experience in managing and evaluating projects.
- Ability to speak publically and effectively to diverse groups of community members and health care professionals.
- Creativity and flexability in developing approaches problem solving and working on a multi-disciplinary cross-cultural team.
- Ability to work with time constraints.
- Skilled in applying principles of adult and experiential learning.
- Requires excellent computer skills with programs such as MS Word Excel Access Outlook and Power Point.
- Requires tact and some persuasion beyond the levels of courtesy and politeness required for all jobs.
- Requires the ability to function independently in a community setting.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills preferred.
- Fire Safety card within 90 days of hire.
