About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Group Senior Credit Officer (GSCO) - Credit Risk and Approval Executive for the Banking Group within Corporate & Investment Banking. (CIB). Banking credit risk oversees lending activities across CIB Banking industry verticals, including Consumer & Retail (C&R), Energy & Power (E&P), Banks, Healthcare, Industrials, Global, Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) and Financial Sponsors.
Banking activities are primarily U.S.-focused with a growing international presence. The GSCO-Banking is responsible for credit risk within the Banking business and will report to the Chief Risk Officer for CIB, as well as the Chief Credit Officer. The GSCO-Baking will lead a team that is responsible for Independent Risk Management (IRM) oversight and credible challenge of credit across the CIB Banking businesses. This individual will oversee all credit approval activities, including approval of new credits, extensions, modifications, and other elements of the credit approval lifecycle. This individual will also ensure that approvals and oversight align to enterprise and business policies.
The GSCO-Banking will oversee reporting and monitoring of the Banking credit portfolio including monitoring against key risk indicators (KRIs) and other established limits. In addition, the GSCO-Banking will review strategic plans and new business initiatives against established risk appetite and in accordance with strategic risk requirements. This individual will also ensure that Banking Credit is represented in all enterprise risk programs.
As a senior executive in Corporate Risk, the GSCO-Banking will engage with and present to Wells Fargo executive leadership and business leaders, as well as the Board of Directors on topics related to Banking credit activities and the Banking credit position. The GSCO- Banking will also have regular interaction with external regulators and work with Investor Relations on earnings related communications.
In this role, you will:- Review, analyze, provide credible challenge, and approve new requests
- Review, analyze, provide credible challenge, and approve modifications, amendments, waivers etc.
- Review, analyze, and provide credible challenge to front line portfolio monitoring and surveillance activities
- Participate in the development of and approve Banking credit policies and related governance
- Provide oversight to business loss forecasting for the Banking portfolio
- Establish and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), concentration limits and other boundaries
- Provide credible challenge to Banking business strategic plans and new business initiatives
- Monitor asset and portfolio level metrics, financial, market and economic data to assess the impacts to credit fundamentals on lending positions and the portfolio as a whole
- Oversee or prepare analysis of Banking credit risks across the portfolio
- Identify emerging credit trends that could potentially impact earnings and capital
- Respond promptly to key stakeholders' requests for data and analysis regarding Banking exposures
- Present Banking credit topics and analysis to regulators, executive management, and other Wells Fargo committees

Required Qualifications:- 8+ years of Credit Risk & Approval experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:- Formal credit training
- Strong credit analysis skill, supplemented by experience in originating, underwriting, portfolio management and credit approval of commercial/corporate loans
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial/corporate credit methodologies
- Proven credit underwriting skills and ability to make prudent and appropriate independent credit decisions, and present concise recommendations to senior credit management
- Proven ability to work closely with LOB Leadership on strategic matters as well as closely with LOB origination team from initial due diligence to credit approval
- Proven ability to recommend actions on clients such as grade, correct exposure, work out and recovery action plans, and facility modifications
- Deep understanding of establishing credit policy and overseeing credit administration and credit authority delegations in the commercial and corporate investment banking space
- Proven ability to monitor credit risk exposures at the group, line of business and product levels
- Ability to identify and monitor current and emerging credit risks and take appropriate action when business activities exceed established credit risk appetite levels
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and effectively to build relationships within a matrixed environment to influence outcomes with business and risk leaders
- Experience preferred from a large, matrixed, global financial services company
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively as the member of a team in a fast paced and evolving environment
- Excellent organizational skills required to manage workloads within tight time constraints
- Effective problem-solving skills, flexibility and adaptability are needed to prioritize and resolve issues in a timely manner and results driven approach to work
- Demonstrated success running a balanced business model while driving transformation, continuous improvement, and efficiency, including the ability to manage and prioritize potentially competing objectives to achieve optimal customer, shareholder, and/or team member outcomes
- An ability to influence, develop, partner with, and maintain collaborative relations at all levels within the organization and externally with customers, regulators, partners, and communities
- Proven experience building, leading, and engaging high-performing, diverse, and inclusive teams. Evidence of ensuring team has the right capabilities and number of resources
- Proven ability to foster constructive relationships with regulatory agencies, peers at other financial institutions, business leaders, and other internal risk management leaders/groups
- Capable of working under great pressure with equanimity, to manage a considerable volume of information and priorities

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$249,500.00 - $518,300.00
