Title:

Principal Roads Designer

We’re looking for a driven and technically skilled Principal Roads Designer to join our growing Civil Infrastructure team in Adelaide. With KBR recently securing multiple long-term infrastructure programs across Australia, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering landmark projects that shape the future of transport — and help build something new and exciting right here in South Australia.

This role isn’t just about delivering projects — it’s about shaping them. You’ll have a pivotal role in defining how we grow our presence in South Australia, working alongside our national leaders to help guide the direction of our work and influence the region’s transport future.

As a senior team member, you’ll be instrumental in leading design delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to the development of new business opportunities. Your expertise in road design and ability to interface confidently with clients and stakeholders will be vital in securing and successfully delivering work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the civil design of highway and road planning studies and major infrastructure projects across South Australia and nationally.

  • Be part of building something new: contribute your voice and vision to how KBR shapes its future footprint in South Australia.

  • Drive high-quality project outcomes through technical excellence, cost efficiency, and proactive leadership.

  • Maintain and strengthen key client relationships, with a focus on DIT, ensuring alignment with project objectives and expectations.

  • Lead and support bids and proposals, helping to secure new work by shaping winning strategies and design solutions.

  • Deliver advanced civil designs using 12D and AutoCAD, integrating models into BIM environments for multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Mentor and guide designers and drafters, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Ensure all designs comply with Austroads, DIT guidelines, and relevant Australian Standards.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Diploma or Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Extensive experience in roads and highways design on major infrastructure projects using 12D and AutoCAD.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of DIT standards and a strong understanding of Austroads and Australian Standards.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client interfaces, particularly with DIT.

  • Experience leading bids and contributing to business development initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of BIM workflows and civil model integration (ProjectWise experience is a plus).

  • Collaborative, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Why Join Us?

At KBR, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking team delivering some of Australia’s most complex infrastructure projects. We’re investing in the future of South Australia — and you’ll be at the heart of it. You’ll have the chance to influence how we grow, shape our local capability, and leave a legacy in the region. We support flexible work arrangements and offer career pathways that reward leadership, innovation, and client success.
