Program Summary

Programs supported will be within our Space Superiority portfolio, with the work location being Colorado Springs, CO. Quality within EWS works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sustainment, Maintenance, Range Modernization, and Depot operations.

Job Summary

The Principal Quality Specialist I manages the day-to-day operations of the quality management system and is responsible for overall QMS scope, processes, methodologies, and improvements. This position supports operations, but works in a role that validates certain elements of the business either directly related to product quality or compliance to the AS9100 quality standard. This position will coordinate with quality personnel across the business unit on processes, procedures, and audits.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Responsible for the performance and review of the QMS including Key Performance Indicators and how they are functioning, including how they are improving or regressing.

· Monitor the overall QMS objectives and customer deliverables based on established quality standards as defined by AS9100D regulations.

· Develop, implement, and manage processes and policies to ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery

· Continuously improve policies, procedures, and processes through understanding Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action

· In-process and final inspection of product and integration activities including reports

· Schedule, plan, and execute internal audits to AS9100 standards, including writing internal audit reports and presenting this, and other relevant QMS information, in quarterly Management Review meetings.

· Create, verify, and track Corrective Actions, including tracking Corrective Action Reports and verifying corrective action efficiency.

· Create, review, and update QMS processes and procedures to verify current applicability

· Track company metrics through collaboration with Engineering Teams and Management Teams.

· Create Quality Briefs and training materials to keep staff aware of the QMS

· Communicate quality standards, established parameters, and changes to the QMS to Top Management, Engineering Team, and other appropriate staff

· Facilitate solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data

· Keep records of quality reports and relevant documentation

· Oversees the completion of projects including planning; assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; evaluating results, etc.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in related field and seven (7) years of experience.

· An active and maintained Department of Defense (DoD) top secret security clearance and eligible to receive and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI, if required

· Experience actively participating in or managing an AS9100 certified quality management system

Preferred Qualifications

· Masters degree preferred

· Experience in a manufacturing environment

· Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and 6S methodology

· Knowledge of manufacturing tools and the maintenance/calibration of measuring equipment

· Demonstrated ability to write well, providing clear, concise descriptions and instructions in well-wrought English.

· Demonstrated proficiency with writing, layout and illustration software tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.

· Working experience with MIL-STD style guides such as MIL-STD 40051-2C.

· Strong Microsoft Office experience

· Strong communication and Organization skills

· Efficient time manager and decisive

· Expert proficiency with Quality Software Tools

· Six Sigma Black Belt

· Expert proficiency 6S Lean principles and application

· 10+ years experience in manufacturing

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000

The salary range posted is for Colorado Springs, CO. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
