What does a successful Director, Software Development do at Fiserv?
The Software Development Director is a vital role within the Digital Lending and Originations Group at Fiserv, the global leader in information management and e-commerce systems for the financial services industry. This team is responsible for developing and delivering enterprise-strength software focused on digital lending and serving over 1,000 customers worldwide, including major financial institutions and banks. Location is Overland Park, Kansas.
What you will do:
- Oversee and report on project status, managing team resources and assignments to ensure milestones are met and high-quality software is delivered.
- Act as the escalation point for all risks and issues that may impact the development teams, defining and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Mentor, motivate, coach, and develop high-performing development teams (both local and international) within an Agile environment.
- Ensure adherence to mandatory software disciplines, including audit compliance and security practices, while promoting Agile principles like team reflection.
- Focus on maintaining code quality through facilitation and encouragement of test automation and exploratory testing.
- Own the recruitment and onboarding processes for new employees, fostering a positive team environment and guide development teams on practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, and other DevOps methodologies.
- Foster collaboration among development teams to tackle complex business problems effectively.
- Understand organizational business strategies and integrate that knowledge into project activities and build strong relationships across functional areas and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
What you will need to have:
- 10 + years of experience in managing the delivery and maintenance of commercial software.
- Strong technical background with experience on Microsoft Technology stack.
- Ability to make technical decisions with help from Tech Architects.
- Experience with development practices such as code reviews, refactoring, unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automated testing, and stakeholder demonstrations.
- Experience working within a matrixed organization, including managing large offshore teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience.
What would be great to have:
- Preferred experience in developing enterprise-level solutions, with skills in .NET development (C#), XML, IIS, MS SQL Server, and Web Service Technology.
- Experience with Financial Services helpful.
