About your role:
As a Software Engineer on our Output Solutions team, you will utilize your COBOL development skills to provide operational and technical support of batch jobs related to the company’s enterprise systems to ensure they run reliably, accurately, and successfully. You will also be involved with the implementation of new technologies for innovative solutions for this area of the business.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain existing applications and troubleshoot/fix code as needed
- Create innovative solutions using new technologies to replace older code/systems, reduce outages, and improve efficiency
- Monitor and manage multiple environment systems and applications
- Identify production problems and find solutions in a timely manner
- Design and create automation to enhance functional and operational aspects of systems
- Identify, evaluate, recommend, and report process improvement solutions
- Ensure that all monitoring points and proper remediation/escalation procedures are documented
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and off-hours support
Experience you'll need to have:
- 4+ years of experience in application development in COBOL programming
- 2+ years of experience in VB, C# or similar programming languages
- 2+ years of experience in XML, MVC, Web Development, .NET & CORE Framework, API/Web services/Micro Services
- 2+ years of experience in SQL databases
- 1+ years of experience with scripting languages such as DOS Command (bat), python, or JavaScript
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience in the financial services industry
- DevOps principles and technologies including CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible
- Software versioning control using GIT, Bitbucket, or similar tools
- Print file formats such as PostScript, PDF, AFP
- Experience or Knowledge in composition software like ISIS Papyrus software suites / Quadient Inspire or HP Extreme or other document management solutions
- Prior experience in an Agile environment
