The primary purpose of the Finance Director is to provide leadership to assigned business units in translating both strategic and business planning assumptions into financial outcomes. This role also develops and communicates financial insights, measures of success, and ensures data driven decision making. This includes responsibility for regular and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis, measurement scorecards, identifying and mitigating risks and managing a team of professionals.
What You Will Do
- Owns development of enterprise long range plans and annual target setting- leveraging external market and industry data and internal financial analysis.
- Guides the business and leads through the others for the planning and forecasting process, communicate expectations, ensures financial best practices are established and deliver results.
- Advises senior leaders and at times, executives to ensure and leads through others to ensure decisions are backed by data to ensure appropriate financial insights and opportunities are understood.
- Leads through others to ensure opportunities to improve the planning cycle are identified, communicated and effectively implemented.
- Leads through others to ensure the effective recording, reporting, and analysis of financial the business results.
- Collaborates, builds effective working relationships and ensures stakeholder management with team, partners and the business including senior leadership and at times, executives, to ensure delivery of objectives.
- Leads through others to investigate business issues, adjust operational activities and identify alternative courses of action, also accounting for any risk mitigation strategies.
- Leads the effective delivery and support from the finance team for business case initiatives, ensure expected business outcome will bring shareholder value, and work across key business groups to gain support.
- Challenges key stakeholders including senior leadership and at times, executives, on business case decisions that don’t support shareholder value or strategic priorities for the company, along with facilitate trade off discussions when needed.
- Leads the team to develop the financial priorities for the realization of benefits, drive cross-functional support and advocate for business partners to proactively engage with Finance teams to deliver financial objectives for the company.
- Manages and develop associates across immediate and broader teams.
- Leads effective teams and leads through others to hire, coach, train and develop to ensure a talented, productive and engaged workforce.
- Creates and leads others to ensure an inclusive environment across the organization to foster diverse ideas and perspectives.
- Leads a culture and ensures the team drives towards continual improvement and process excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting, or related Field and 8-10 Years Experience in a finance or analytical role
- Master's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting, or related Field
- 5-7 Years Leadership experience with direct report responsibility and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Skills/Education
- 5-7 Years Experience in financial analysis, accounting, financial modeling and strategy consulting for business
- Experience working in a big box/large retailer
- Experience working at a Fortune 500 company
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
