Homeland Force and Protection within Leidos is seeking a strong applications developer to join the Traveler Processing and Vetting Solutions (TPVS) Program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.
The position is focused on delivering performance-based IT services and repeatable solutions. Our team is looking for a developer that can support applications in a cloud-based, large-scale enterprise environment with the goal of learning new technologies to optimize efficiency and improve performance. As such, this individual must be able to manage assigned tasks and solve technical problems and be able to work well individually and in small to medium-sized teams. The development role will be one of many within a team of 10+ people, and close interactions with other agile delivery teams across PSPD, CBP, and external applications will be necessary for success.
**This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week**
Primary Responsibilities:
Learn and support the implementation of workflow and rules technology integration across multiple applications
Provide assistance and support for less experienced team members
Track assigned tasks to completion within a team of 10+ developers.
Identify and resolve technical issues that arise
Work independently
Employ ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives
Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.
Research, evaluate, and stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies including cloud services
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS with 8+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years of relevant experience with Master's Degree: OR 9 years of experience in lieu of degree
Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start
Experience evaluating business needs, refining requirements to identify appropriate solutions, and ability to resolve difficult issues
Experience with agile-based implementations
Strong communication skills with ability to interact effectively across multiple teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of workflows and rules engines
Experience in Java
Experience working with PostgeSQL and AWS
Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD)/Behavioral-Driven Development (BDD)
Experience applying a continuous integration/deployment approach to project or program delivery
Familiarity with AI concepts and code assistance tools
Experience in the following tools and/or technologies:
JDK21and above (strongly preferred)
Python, JavaScript
Redis/Memcached/Elasticache
WebServices including REST interfaces development
Messaging solutions including Kafka, ActiveMQ, SQS, SNS

Pay Range:
Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
