Program Summary
KBR provides provide integrated Base Operations Support (BOS) services to the Commanding Officer, Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia (NSF DG) in support of its mission as a Forward, logistics, support base in the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). Our robust supply chain ensures on-time delivery of mission-critical supplies, and our team conducts essential port and airfield operations in this geographically complex environment. The KBR team is over 1,000 people strong, providing not only life support services such as water treatment, electricity, and telecom/antenna maintenance, but also quality of life services like Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and an award-winning dining facility.
Job Summary
As a Senior IT Support Technician, you will be responsible for the administration of various data systems, including hardware, software, information systems, and peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices. You will maintain, install, upgrade, and configure data systems, administer operating systems, and manage basic security and recovery procedures. Your role involves solving complex and unique problems, as well as directing the daily activities of a technical support team. You will establish task priorities, interpret issues, and develop best practices to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. At least 5 years of experience in a Microsoft® operating environment
Roles and Responsibilities
- Resolve non-routine trouble tickets and change requests in the remedy system; report status to supervisor, close tickets upon completion.
- Manage software, hardware, and crypto device installations, moves, adds, and changes; redeploy and dispose of hardware as required.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) with team members for problem resolution; validate and standardize solutions for inclusion in the problem resolution database.
- Evaluate new tools and trends for customer support; organize vendor demonstrations and recommend new tools.
- Implement and maintain desktop hardware/software, ensuring data integrity and implementing solutions for workstation/server management.
- Contribute to project teams for new or upgraded designs and implementations.
- Develop site administration documentation and ensure adherence to problem and change management processes.
- Provide user training on hardware, software, and network operations.
- Lead and mentor junior staff, as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship with Secret clearance required.
- Must pass overseas medical screening and maintain good health.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be capable of driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows® Server 2003, Microsoft® Exchange 2003, Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, Microsoft® Office 2003 Professional, IBM Tivoli, BMC Remedy, UNIX, and Linux.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) in English with management, clients, and employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: IAT-1: Security+ or GSEC or SCNP or SSCP (as per DOD 8570.1M directive matrix)
- Education: Associate’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
