Position Summary
To oversee the planning and direction of the operations of the assigned before and after care program for school age children; implementing activities to ensure the Caliday mission, vision and values are upheld, and the children are provided with a safe and learning environment. To provide support and direction to the School Age Teachers and Teacher’s Aides.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
- Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
- Maintains an attractive and informative Parent Table, updated regularly.
- Implements activities that are age-appropriate and stimulating in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum; manages effective classroom management; ensures that the duties of the implemented activities are clearly delegated and communicated to all staff involved.
- Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, answering emails and phone calls, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
- Maintains open and effective communication with team members, parents and school community, creating a positive workplace culture, fostering teamwork and enthusiasm.
- Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
- Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the team members to resolve.
- Completes all required paperwork, abides by staff schedules to maintain payroll, and maintains accurate staff and child files.
- Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have an AA or Bachelor’s degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or a similar discipline OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care
- The ideal candidate will have the 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training certificate, Medication Administration training certificate, Emergency Disaster Preparedness training certificate, Basic Health and Safety training certificate and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in a supervisory role with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Candidates are required to have 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.
