ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Chantilly, VA.

In this dynamic role, you will join a top-tier team of Information Technology and Analytic professionals dedicated to supporting national security through innovative data science and analytics. You will work in a self-contained Big Data environment where the team manages everything from infrastructure and application development to advanced analytics. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Working with large, complex, and disparate data sets
  • Designing and implementing innovative ways to analyze and exploit the Sponsor’s data holdings
  • Researching and reporting on a wide variety of Sponsor inquiries
  • Proactively identifying areas for analysis or exploitation and raising inquiries to the Sponsor
  • Applying advanced analytical methodologies to solve difficult, non-routine problems and improve analytic processes
  • Developing custom searches
  • Participating in threat hunting and/or developing advanced, novel detection mechanisms to counter malicious actors

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 2+ years of experience coding/scripting in Python
  • Experience and knowledge of appropriate analytic tools and methodologies in one or more of the following:
    • Applied mathematics (e.g., probability and statistics, formal modeling, computational social sciences)
    • Computer programming (e.g., programming languages, math/statistics packages, computer science, machine learning, scientific computing)
  • Experience collecting information and accurately visualizing and representing it to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, and anomaly detection
  • Knowledge of relational databases including SQL and large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop
  • Experience with statistical data analysis (e.g., linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling)
  • Background in computer network operations, particularly network defense and/or exploitation
  • Experience in signature development, threat hunting, and/or threat modeling

Clearance Requirements

  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required

Physical Requirements

  • Use hands to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under desks and in the server closet
