What does a successful Data Governance Manager do?
A successful Data Governance Manager at Fiserv plays a crucial role within the Global Privacy Office to advance the Data Governance program by implementing our data governance framework. This role involves conducting risk assessments pertaining to data governance practices, identifying potential risks, and areas of non-compliance. It requires a collaborative approach to scope, plan, coordinate, design and perform trainings, and execute initiatives that bolster the Data Governance function. Additionally, the Data Governance Manager works closely with various departments, encouraging a culture of accountability and transparency around data governance best practices. Promoting data governance initiatives supports effective management of Fiserv’s data, facilitating strategic decision-making and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
What you will do:
- Draft policies, standards, and guidance related to enterprise Data Governance.
- Assist in implementing data governance policies and procedures and assess whether business practices align with those standards.
- Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement within data governance practices.
- Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze data assets, environments, and trends.
- Identify potential opportunities for AI systems to facilitate data governance initiatives.
- Engage directly with other departments to gather information, clarify data-related issues, and promote data governance initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to data governance and stewardship and develop recommendations for data management improvements.
- Assist in developing and deploying training for staff on compliance responsibilities, focusing on the importance of following data governance policies and mitigating risks associated with data handling.
What you will need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in data security and management principles, including encryption, access controls, and data masking.
- Understanding of data governance programs and frameworks.
- Familiarity with relevant data-related laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
- Analyze data and processes to identify compliance risks, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerBI to assist in data analysis and reporting tasks.
- Knowledge of data management tools and software, such as Snowflake and Alation, as well as AI tools and systems used for data analysis.
- Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent military experience.
What would be great to have:
- 8+ years of experience in developing and implementing data governance practices across organizations.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes in the field of data management.
- Proficiency in utilizing AI and NLP tools for advanced data analysis reflecting trends and anomalies.
- Experience in conducting comprehensive risk assessments in data governance.
- Proven success in engaging and leading cross-functional, collaborative projects to improve data governance standards.

- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
