What You'll Do
- Define the best common architectures for transmissions and electric drive units on a global basis
- Continuously improve the architectures to meet changing requirements (e.g. packaging, NVH, efficiency and fuel economy) and improve cost and quality
- Apply best common trans and drive unit architecture to global GPDP New and Major programs during Balance Architecture
- Assist DSEs in the application of best common architecture to GPDP Minor and Continuous Improvement programs.
- Identify and facilitate resolution of BOM/BOD congruency issues between PMTs
- Support the BOM/BOD definition of new hardware components
- Participate in technical deep dives and Gate Reviews for Advanced Engineering projects; provide requirements and feedback
- Support Advanced Engineering project leaders in determining Product Engineering participations in reviews
- Support or lead special projects related to transmissions and drive units
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Engineering
- 8+ years of experience with multiple transmission and electric drive unit hardware production subsystems and components (e.g. structures, gear systems, cooling, lubrication, sealing and fastening, etc.).
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of transmission and hybrid mechanical/electrical and control systems.
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with global business partners to meet mutual goals
