Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to oversee all financial aspects of our restaurant group. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in accounting principles and practices. This role requires strong financial acumen, restaurant financials, and the ability to manage cash flow, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Duties
- Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations - full understanding of CA labor laws, wage and hour penalties, etc.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account reconciliations to maintain accuracy in financial records.
- Manage cash flow effectively to support the group's operational needs.
- Lead budgeting processes and forecasting activities to align financial goals with organizational strategy.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Supervise the preparation of regulatory reports as required by governmental agencies.
- Implement and maintain accounting software systems to enhance efficiency in financial management.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller in a restaurant setting.
- Strong understanding of restaurant accounting principles is required.
- Experience with cash management practices and financial report writing is essential.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.
- Proficient in using financial software applications for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Excellent knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles and debits & credits management.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate account analysis and general ledger reconciliation.
