We are searching for the best talent for Business Excellence Improvement Engineer Co-Op to be in Gurabo, PR.
- The typical Co-op term is from January, 2026 to January, 2027
- Full time requirement (40 hours per week)
Purpose:
The incumbent is responsible to make significant improvements in the assigned areas using best practices and methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma). This includes the execution of projects, coaching belts and contributing to the continuous improvement environment promote lean culture. Work in conjunction with operations, support groups and transactional areas to reduce cost, reduce inventory and create flow aligning to customer demand by eliminating non-valueadded activities. Develop current and future state value stream mapping (VSM) for the assigned areas, prioritized job jar and track progress of projects execution plan. Support the organizational and the Business Excellence group in any initiative to improve processes through; kaizen teams, 6S, dashboards, scorecards, visual aids, standard works, checklists, time studies etc. the incumbent candidate should be able to communicate properly and influence others.
You will be responsible for:
This position must be focused on the following responsibilities:
- Execute continuous improvement projects using methodologies.
- Support the creation of VSM, prioritized job jar, project plan and updates (continuous improvement cycle).
- Engage people thru kaizen teams, improvement ideas generation, and other improvement activities.
- Support / Coach BE certification projects such as Yellow Belt. Supporting BE initiatives; Lean Maturity Assessments, benchmark activities, etc.
- Support the maintenance of site / area dashboards / scorecards, visuals / etc.
- Contribute to department goals such as: create/update database, assist on training, certification programs, education material, etc.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at accredited University is required.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.
- The position requires being proficient in the use of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Minitab statistical software knowledge is highly desirable. Basic Statistical and cost analysis skills are highly desirable.
- Desirable proficiency in Power Apps, data analysis, programming design and modifications, and technical skills.
- Previous Internship/Coop and/or Academic Research experience preferred. Previous work experience in pharmaceutical industry or related fields of research in a plus. Extracurricular experience such as a student association membership on a related field in a must.
- The position requires employee to be fluent in Spanish and English and must have excellent ability to write in English and Spanish; must exercise judgment on the resolution of production problems to meet company standards for quality, cost and critical success factors.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with cross functional areas. Ability to assess issues and opportunities, establish priorities, takes ownership and act with a sense of urgency. The candidate must show sense of urgency, initiative, team work and collaboration and Integrity & Credo Based Actions.
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
