Job Overview
The Regional Transport Planner is responsible for planning a fleet of trucks, trailers, and drivers in one area or region to ensure optimum productivity, service levels, and revenue. They must accomplish this while understanding and meeting the needs of our customers and drivers while staying in constant communication with multiple departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans drivers via TMW accurately and timely while complying with federal motor carrier safety regulations (HOS), ensures drivers are planned and have accurate and timely information.
- Identifies and tracks performance measures including, On-Time Delivery, driver utilization, truck utilization and the minimization of empty miles. Meet KPI requirements established by leadership. KPI goals include improving the efficiency of the fleet with matching lanes to eliminate empty miles. Repositioning trailers to match customer trailer requirements.
- Establishes a good working relationship with each Director Regional Manager, Senior Manager Regional Operations, and driver managers to direct and schedule driver start times.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with assigned customer service, field, and managed freight personnel on all levels while developing positive and solid relationships to enhance growth. Meet KPI requirements establish by leadership.
- Communicates pick-up and delivery exceptions with Managed Freight CSR, Customer Excellent Planners, driver managers, and other terminals that are affected.
- Partners cross-functionally with Supply Planner team members to institute process improvements to reduce accessorial events and charges.

- This role coordinates transportation planning and execution, monitors delivery performance, takes part in cross-functional projects, and identifies opportunities for improved transportation performance and lowered costs.
- The individual will be results-driven with an aggressive personality, excellent problem-solving skills, that are complemented by exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Utilize TMW, Microsoft excel and outlook as production tools for their region.
- Transportation (trucking) experience.
- Can train for the right candidate.

- Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMW Preferred).
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of education beyond high school in college or technical school
- Knowledge acquired through up to 12 months of work experience
