The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Technical Spares Assessor to join our Armoured Fighter Vehicle (AFV) Branch in Melbourne. In this role, you will apply configuration management principles to ensure spares, tools and support equipment are accurately assessed, catalogued and linked to the correct configuration baseline.
This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll work closely with engineers, maintainers and logistics specialists to ensure that critical AFV platforms — such as infantry fighting vehicles, reconnaissance vehicles, and combat support systems — remain fully supported through their life of type.
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the conduct of Technical Spares Assessment across the organisation.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to complete Technical Spares Assessment. - Perform moderately complex to complex mechanical technical activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
Provide subject matter expertise to technical data processes and review/preparation of technical publication. - Apply technical experience to input and review Contract Deliverables and Through Life Support artefacts.
- Provide support to repair parts identification and codification activities.
- Development of complete equipment schedules.
- Undertake and oversee technical investigations and technical instructions relating to platform systems, including support to RODUMs.
- Work both within and to the requirements of the Authorised Engineering Organisation.
- Work to the requirements of Contractor Engineering Management Plan.
- Assist with preparation and/or review of work instructions and maintenance schedules.
- Conducting work to a high standard, including work on technical publications.
- Working within Certification Standards and established industry practices.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customer and supplier contacts.
- Provide guidance, mentorship and assistance to team members including junior levels as and when required.
- Support to Technical Investigations.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Qualified in Technical Trade/Maintenance with minimum of 4 years’ experience (Mandatory).
- Certificate IV in relevant trade or technical field (Minimum qualification).
- Associate Diploma or higher in relevant trade or technical field (preferred).
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Defence or related technical industry related to maintenance activities (Highly Desirable).
- NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance (Mandatory).
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence
Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
