Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. Job Description
Versant Media is offering an ingest associate position. This position is intended for individuals with a strong interest in production and technology within television journalism, specifically Cable News and Digital. The position manages records, ingests content, routing, quality control and troubleshooting technology. Ideal candidate has a strong technical background and understanding, ability to build strong professional relationships, a flexible schedule, and able to work in a highly deadline-driven environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Schedule records of all assignment desk feeds, show needs (including ISOs, stand-ups, pre-tapes), coverage, and breaking news in an extremely quick turnaround live news environment.
- Conversion of various media files from one format to another; migration of data and media to and from other devices.
- Assist producers, shows, and assignment desk throughout the day with Media Ingest requests.
- Transfer content upon the request of the clients.
- Operate and manage the interface required to record feeds directly into the platform.
- Provide Quality Control of incoming footage.
- Partner with producers, shows and others when file based ingest issues arise. Troubleshoot issues and seek assistance from the appropriate party. File discrepancy reports.
- Back-up digital media as requested or required, verify successful ingest of media before original data is returned to client or media is formatted.
- Ingest a variety of file types, troubleshoot problematic file formats and Codecs. Import files from other locations such as Latakoo, Web Sites, and FTP sites.
- Create digital screening exports for producers and shows, delivered online or as physical memory.
- Coordinate and organize footage once ingested.
- Utilize various online methods to gather interviews using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, Woody Social, etc.
Qualifications
What You Must Have:
- 3+ years experience working in a large media market.
- Strong knowledge of basic computer functions on PC and Mac platforms.
- Understands production environments.
- Familiarity with digital media workflows – transcoding and digital file delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Strong technical background and understanding.
- A flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as business necessitates.
- Able to work in a highly deadline-driven environment.
What Would Make You a Stand-out:
- Self-managing individual with willingness to learn new technologies.
- Set Audio/Video levels to spec and verify signal quality of remotes prior to air.
- Extensive experience in non-linear editing and scheduling tools.

This position is required to be performed full-time from a designated worksite. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
