About the role:
The Senior Portfolio Governance & Program Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the governance of strategic growth projects at the division level aligned with our 2030 growth objectives. In this role, the senior manager will lead portfolio level reviews, identify areas for improvement, and report performance against KPIs. The senior manager will help ensure visibility, alignment, and value realization across the portfolio while supporting core governance operations.

What you will do:
• Provide leadership and oversight for a portfolio of strategic projects ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives and critical program milestones.
• Ensure clear communication of objectives, expectations, and assign responsibilities as needed.
• Drive project portfolio prioritization, actions and execution.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate periodic governance meetings and other executive reviews. Follow-up on action items for timely closure.
• Drive proactive, risk and issue management across the program portfolio, identifying roadblocks and drive resolution before they can impact key milestones.
• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to prioritize critical issues and required information to facilitate effective decision making.
• Track and report on key performance metrics and benefits realization.
• Contribute to portfolio roadmap maintenance and development of governance templates, tools, and reporting standards.
What you will have:
Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Evaluates risks and vulnerabilities, and creates contingency plans.
• Advises others on preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating program cost and time.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc program reviews with project managers, team and clients.
• Coaches others in maintaining open communication among project managers and interested parties.
• Oversees reporting requirements, and creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
• Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors a set of projects within a program.
Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Advises on advanced data gathering and analysis methodologies and technologies.
• Oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the organization.
• Documents sources and validates the accuracy of data analysis by evaluating the pros and cons of data analysis methods used.
• Implements procedures and policies within a data processing function.
• Teaches others how to improve the validity and reliability of data used in various analyses.
• Evaluates best practices of data gathering and analysis within the industry.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Additional requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Strong project/portfolio management experience.
• Proficient in the use of project planning tools and software.
• Experience in handling governance reviews and issue resolutions.
• Self-motivated and proactive leader, capable of identifying opportunities and challenges, and driving solutions independently.
Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
