Are you ready to take your accounting career to the next level? Caterpillar’s Accounting for Income Taxes team is small but mighty—and we’re looking for a motivated professional to join us in a role that offers exceptional exposure and growth.
In this position, you’ll gain valuable insight into Caterpillar’s corporate accounting processes and play a key role in our consolidated financial reporting. You’ll collaborate with world-class internal teams including Global Tax, Technical Accounting, Consolidations, and SOX, building a strong network across the organization.
This role focuses on U.S. GAAP accounting for income taxes, a critical area of external reporting. You’ll enhance your data analytics capabilities, and deepen your understanding of Caterpillar’s accounting practices—all while contributing to meaningful business processes.

What You Will Do:
- Monthly Legal Entity Closing including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Monthly reporting and analysis related to consolidated results and balances as they related to income taxes
- Preparing annual footnote disclosures in Caterpillar's SEC filings
- Participate in and/or lead the development and support of business process improvements in support of the Global Finance Strategy
- Communicate effectively within the team and with internal customers and data providers
- Proactively interact with internal customers to develop, understand and manage customer requirements and expectations
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: 2 or 4-year degree, preferably in accounting with 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a strong commitment to precision by using effective tools and methods to verify work. Capable of processing large volumes of detailed information while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Applies effective time management strategies to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Makes sound decisions about prioritization to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Financial Reporting: Understands the principles, tools, and processes involved in financial reporting. Maintains thorough and accurate documentation to support financial statements and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Demonstrated strong leadership, initiative, inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Experience with corporate offices accounting policies and procedures
- Experience with macros or power query

- Primary location and additional locations: Peoria, IL - AB Building
- Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
- We are a 5 day/week in office work model

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
