Heavy Equipment Assembler – 1st & 2nd Shift
Location: South Milwaukee, WI
Shifts: 1st or 2nd Shift (Full-Time)
Bonus: $2,000 Sign-On & Retention Bonus
Pay Progression
- Step 1: $28.54/hr
- Step 2: $29.73/hr
- Step 3: $30.91/hr
- Shift Premium: +$1.00/hr for 2nd shift

Caterpillar is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Assembler with a strong mechanical and heavy machinery background join our manufacturing team in South Milwaukee, WI.

At our South Milwaukee facility, you’ll be part of a team that builds some of the largest and most powerful mining machines in the world. This facility specializes in the production of Cat® Electric Rope Shovels (ERS) used in mining operations around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, layout, align, and assemble parts, sub-assemblies, and complete machines
- Use hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and measuring devices to perform high-precision assembly
- Position and align components using jib, overhead cranes, hoists, and jacks
- Install power units and accessories, fit keys and splines, and perform press/shrink fits
- Conduct functional tests and adjustments, disassemble and prepare machines for shipment or storage
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of heavy equipment assembly experience
- Proficiency with hand tools: thread dies, drills, saws, screwdrivers, pipe wrenches, chisels
- Experience using cranes, hoists, and layout tools
- Familiarity with steel, tubing, fittings, grease, oil, and hydraulic components
- Working knowledge of high, medium, and low-pressure hydraulic and automated lube systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and micrometers
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to close tolerances
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to work overtime to meet production demands
- Commitment to safety and quality standards

Summary Pay Range:
$28.54 - $35.67
