Role Summary:
Cat Technology’s Autonomy and Automation division is currently seeking a Mining Technology Engineering Project Lead for Caterpillar Mining Safety Systems primarily responsible for Collision Awareness/Avoidance Systems (CAS). As the project lead, you will be responsible for deliverables in new product development, continuous product improvement, new technology development for the CAS technical team and manage a 3rd party developer.
The incumbent must have strong technical and analytical skills, good communication and project management skills, a broad technical knowledge base, strong engineering judgement, and demonstrated team leadership skills. The incumbent must have the ability to interface with mining customers tactfully and with technical competence.
The engineering project lead must be able to build relationships and partnerships with product support, commercial, and strategy teams, process owners and customers to provide exceptional service. This position is also responsible to provide technical support to customers. There are frequent and regular interactions with customers and end users.
What you will do:
- Lead projects for current CAS platforms,
- Develop new Control Level 8 Use Cases
- Test, Validate, Implement Control Level 9 CAS
- Analyze site performance improvements with CAS deployments
- Negotiate and manage technical requirements, communicate to stakeholders, team members, and platform groups,
- Participate in the processes of test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of robotics software,
- Consult on the integration issues of robotic software with existing infrastructure components and products,
- Lead design, implementation, testing and release of software for robotic devices.
- Provide Coaching and Technical Guidance to global team of Engineers along with Team development
- Provide Project leadership & Governance
- Provide leadership and governance on New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and Cost Reduction Projects
What you will have:
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
- Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
- Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Top Candidates will have:
- Proven Design Project Leadership, deep technical experience, and intellectual curiosity
- Working knowledge with Collision Awareness/Avoidance Systems Technology
- Working knowledge of Minesite operations
- Software and Systems Development knowledge
Additional Information:
- Position requires the candidate to work full-time in either Tucson, AZ or Mossville, IL.
- Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
- This position may require up to 15% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
