What you will do:
- Lead the development, testing, and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
- Collaborate closely with business and compliance teams, interfacing applications, and product managers to gather requirements. Analyse requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
- Design, code, unit test, and implement changes while providing ongoing support.
- Handling of the production abends and providing the resolutions with in the SLAs.
- Write and execute unit test scenarios to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Optimize application performance for efficient resource use.
- Troubleshoot and debug code to resolve technical issues.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback and fostering adherence to coding standards and best practices among team members.
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level developers, nurturing their skills and supporting their growth through knowledge sharing and hands-on guidance.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for innovative solutions and methodologies to enhance the development process and product offerings.
- Lead architectural discussions and design sessions, providing technical direction and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best engineering practices.
What you will need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- 6+ years of experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
- 6+ years of experience utilizing mainframe utilities for development and maintenance.
- 6+ years of experience in gathering and analysing requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
- 6+ years of experience in designing, coding, testing, and implementing mainframe applications.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
