Key Responsibilities:
KBR is seeking a Skill Level 1 Software engineer who will join our team in Alexandria, VA (Mark Center) to support on-site work in support of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Prototyping and Experimentation (P&E). As a Software Engineer with KBR, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based on documented requirements. You will work individually and as part of a team, review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, and document test results. You will resolve software problem reports, utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies, and provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and requirements analysis.
Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
Debug existing software and correct defects.
Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
Develop simple queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
Assist in implementing CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment.
Develop web applications and Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (API) using Python/Flask.
Write or review software and system documentation.
Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage, and resolve problem areas.
Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
Design, implement and maintain REST APIs to support scalable modern applications.
Leverage Atlassian tools (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket) for agile project management.

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, engineering, or a relevant technical/analytics discipline.
An active TS/SCI clearance
7-14+ years of relevant work experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Desired:

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to work well independently or as a team member.
Experience with CI/CD pipeline.
Experience using Flask for web application and REST API development.
Proficiency in Git.
Experience using tools like Python and SQL.
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS GovCloud.
Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Basic Compensation:
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
