Title: Lead Piping Engineer

Job Purpose
- Provide technical leadership for piping engineering within FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Define piping design bases, codes, standards, and deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation) and vendors to ensure integrated piping systems.
- Mentor engineers, drive quality, and ensure schedule adherence for piping deliverables across project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design and sizing of piping systems, supports, routing, isometrics, stress analysis, and related components.
- Develop and review piping design basis, piping material specifications, datasheets, and technical bid evaluations.
- Perform and supervise piping stress analyses, thermal expansion, pipe routing optimization, and vibration considerations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.4, API RP 1101, ISO, NFPA) and project-specific requirements.
- Manage interfaces with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and reliability disciplines; coordinate with vendors and contractors.
- Lead risk assessments and safety reviews related to piping (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA) and operability/maintainability considerations.
- Review and approve technical deliverables (isometrics, P&IDs, BOMs, MOC/Change Notes, design change requests, technical queries).
- Mentor and develop junior piping engineers; support staffing, training, and performance reviews.
- Develop and manage execution plans, man-hour estimates, and budgets for piping scope.
- Ensure QA/QC practices, drawing standards, datasheets, and requisition packages related to piping.
- Support field construction, commissioning, and start-up activities; address punch lists and as-built documentation.
- Stay current with advances in piping technology and recommend value-added solutions.
Experience
- Experience: 15+ years of experience in FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- ADNOC EPC/PMC experience are highly preferred
- Demonstrated track record delivering piping design and integration on FEED/detail projects.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's of Engineering in a related field.
- Professional membership or relevant certifications (e.g., PE/Chartered Engineer) are a plus.
- Certification related to piping design or stress analysis (e.g., CPipe, ASME QME) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Strong background in piping design, routing, stress analysis, and support design.
- Proficiency with piping design software and calculation tools (e.g., Caesar II, CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, CAESAR III, and 3D modeling tools).
- Familiarity with FEED deliverables, MOC/Change control, and document controls.
- Knowledge of codes and standards (ASME B31.3/B31.4, API, ISO, NFPA) relevant to piping.
- Experience with high-pressure piping, thermal insulation, coatings, and corrosion considerations.
- Ability to perform mass and energy balances related to piping systems and to conduct safety reviews.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
