Essential Functions:
• Leads a team of Merchants and Associate Merchants with responsibility of recruiting, selection, development, and performance management.
• Accountable for category margin and financial performance recovery.
• Creates product assortments and competitive pricing strategies in assigned categories that align with Lowe’s Pro Supply brand vision/strategy.
• Develops innovative strategies and long term roadmaps that improve product category performance and translates strategy into actionable tactics and drives execution.
• Executes merchandising strategy for assigned product groups that meets financial goals, including sales, gross margin dollar, and inventory turn for assigned segment of business.
• Reviews and recommend product line revisions including deletions.
• Develops Merchant and Associate Merchant skills in negotiation and assortment planning.
• Responsible for maintaining strong, effective relationships with vendors to drive innovation and product development.
• Partners with Buying team to select products and vendors; negotiate price, terms, service obligations, and promotional activity.
• Acts as liaison between Merchandising and Sales Management to control the flow of information on products.
• Continuously monitors product categories for sales and gross margin performance and competitiveness.
• Analyzes competitive pricing data and continually streamline vendor base through consolidation.
• Maintains industry expertise to stay aware of new trends/business to optimize product category success.
• Attends industry and customer trade shows as well as supplier factory visits.
• Collaborates with Marketing team on visual representation and creative development for product packaging and promotions.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree Business, Merchandising or a related field
• 5 years of directly related Merchandising experience
Preferences:
• Experience managing P&L
• Demonstrated experience in retail buying in a large/big box retailer
