As a Data Engineer Intern on the DACI (Data, Analytics, and Customer Insights) team at Lowe’s, you’ll help power data-driven decisions across the enterprise. This team builds and maintains data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and analytics platforms that enable insights for business units ranging from supply chain and merchandising to marketing and digital commerce. You’ll contribute to transforming raw data into usable, scalable, and trustworthy data assets that support strategic initiatives and personalized customer experiences.
This role is ideal for students who are passionate about big data, cloud engineering, and enabling AI and analytics across a Fortune 50 company.
This role has potential for conversion after graduation into a full-time, entry-level position as part of Lowe's Launchpad program for those that successfully complete their internship and required education. Lowe's Launchpad is a rotational opportunity designed to help emerging technologists strengthen their tech skills, engage with tech leaders, and learn more about Lowe’s culture while advancing their career. Successful completion of this program could result in final placement in just 14-months.

Innovate in Charlotte
This internship is based at our on-site Tech Hub in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lowe's Tech Hub is an ultramodern work environment, complete with cutting-edge technology, collaborative workspaces, an on-site barista and Zen Garden, and other perks to enhance your work experience.
What You Will Learn
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using tools such as Spark, Python, and SQL.
Work with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure to manage data workflows and storage.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and usability.
Gain exposure to data warehousing, ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, and batch/stream processing.
Learn how data engineering supports AI/ML model deployment and business intelligence platforms.
Contribute to Lowe’s data governance and data quality initiatives to ensure compliance and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
Expected graduation dates of December 2025, May 2026, December 2026, or May 2027
Preferred Skills/Experience
3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
Proficiency in SQL and exposure to Python, Java, or Scala
Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS)
Understanding of data architecture concepts and ETL processes
Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is a plus
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization
