About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel in the Markets Section of the Corporate & Investment Banking Legal Division to support the Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Municipal Products Group (MPG), comprised of: Public Finance Investment Banking; Municipal Sales and Trading; Syndicate and Municipal Derivatives Trading; and Reinvestment & Structured Funding Trading.

In this role you will:- Advise MPG on its role as an underwriter for municipal securities transactions
- Provide legal counsel on municipal sales and trading issues
- Provide guidance with respect to municipal securities transaction-related activities, including compliance with federal securities laws, tax laws and MSRB rules
- Assist MPG with responses to RFPs for municipal underwriting services
- Provide guidance to management on legal and regulatory matters impacting business strategy and policy or claims against the Company
- Proactively identify policy, legal, and regulatory matters pertaining to MPG, and evaluate the legal risk and impact
- Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet deliverables
- Exercise considerable discretion and serve as primary legal contact for assigned clients
- Collaborate within the department and across business and internal functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo
- Coach, mentor, and provide oversight with less experienced attorneys or staff
- Lead initiatives of varying scope and complexity
Required Qualifications: - 7+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
Desired Qualifications:- Experience as a practicing attorney
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of SEC and MSRB rules and regulations relating to municipal securities underwriting and sales and trading
- Knowledge of and experience with the underwriting and distribution of municipal securities
- Knowledge of federal tax laws relating to tax-exempt securities
- Familiarity with municipal securities sales and trading
- Familiarity with banking regulation
- Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
- Ability to execute in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while balancing multiple priorities
Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
