Who we’re looking for
Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Principal Engineer – Cybersecurity Engineering & Architecture.
The primary responsibility of this role is to design and implement advanced security architectures to protect sensitive data across cloud environments, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and organizational policies. You will lead initiatives in data security strategy, including encryption, access controls, monitoring, and guide engineering teams on best practices to safeguard data at scale.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Cloud Security, the person in this role will join the Cloud Engineering & Software Development Support team to build and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure and systems.
What you'll be doing
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering:
Acts as a strategic business partner to managers and executives, providing value-added research, analysis, and advice on cloud infrastructure and solutions
Leads cloud projects from development through implementation, ensuring they have measurable impacts on company progress
Handles variable situations requiring analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking to solve cloud-related challenges
Cloud Architecture & Technology Strategy:
Works across cloud-based projects to support enterprise-wide initiatives in various functional areas
Ensures cloud architecture integrity and delivers scalable, resilient solutions that align with business goals
Supports cloud deployments and resource management by aligning cloud architecture with DevOps practices for fast, efficient implementation
Problem Solving & Methodology:
Solves complex cloud business problems using advanced analytical methods
Provides value-added research and analysis to management and contributes to the development of cloud solutions
Takes a "whole company" approach to identifying opportunities and creating cloud-based solutions that drive progress
Leadership & Developmeng
Mentors junior cloud engineers and supports team growth through continuous learning and development
Performs additional duties as required to enhance cloud engineering practices and align with organizational goals
What you bring
Prior experience in cloud security or cloud engineering with a focus on security.
Strong experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their security tools.
Deep understanding of cloud architecture and security best practices (IAM, network security, data protection).
Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform, CloudFormation).
Hands-on experience with security monitoring, intrusion detection, SIEM solutions, and incident response.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and securing these environments.
Added bonus if you have
Experience with industry standard cloud security tools such as Wiz, Orca, Checkpoint CloudGuard, Prisma Cloud, etc.
Familiarity with security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP Top 10, or CIS Critical Security Controls.
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related discipline
Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or OSCP, are highly desirable.
