Reporting to the Logistics Planning Manager, this role supports the Part Supply Chain Planning department’s objective to achieve the lowest-cost logistics by leveraging TPS and Toyota Way principles.
- The primary responsibility is to create supply chain plans to move freight from suppliers to manufacturing plants or service part locations, designing over-the-road or rail logistics solutions.
- This position directly supports North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMCs), Service Part Centers, Cross Docks, Contract Logistics Providers, and Toyota suppliers in planning and implementing the supply chain strategy.
- You will have direct responsibility for decisions impacting freight flow and resource allocation, including routing, driver and tractor numbers, yard space, facility material handling, packaging return flow, and parts order timelines.
- The role uses a combination of Toyota-developed and off-the-shelf software to execute planning cycles that adjust to monthly (or more frequent) changes in the sales plan.
- You will conduct complex supply chain network optimization, problem-solving, and data analysis to improve freight flow and reduce costs within a $1B+ budget.
- This position requires strong analytical skills to work with large data sets and conduct on-site observations to create and implement innovative processes that continuously improve the supply chain.
- You will visualize daily KPI performance to ensure targets are met and use this data to drive continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Flexibility for monthly business travel (approximately 3-4 days per month) and daily overtime based on business and customer demand is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Optimizing the external parts delivery supply chain network based on TPS principles.
- Developing and sustaining positive relationships with customers (NAMCs, Service Part Centers, Cross Docks, Contract Logistics Providers, and Toyota suppliers) to ensure smooth operational flow and lowest-cost delivery of parts.
- Fostering personal growth and development to meet current and future business needs, focusing on problem-solving, quality, analytical skills, and deep operational knowledge of the supply chain.
- Creating an environment that drives innovative solutions to deliver significant cost improvements within a $1B+ logistics expense.
- Achieving daily milestones with 100% accuracy to produce new logistics designs monthly, maximizing efficiency and managing change within the supply chain.
