Your Impact
The primary purpose of this role is to capture moderately complex financial activities and resolve issues in accounting records to enable accurate reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes responsibility for conducting effective research, managing, tracking, reporting, and reviewing work on financial activities to ensure accounting records are correct. In addition, this role executes internal controls over financial and regulatory reporting, by working independently to apply experienced accounting judgment and knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements in daily activity.
What You Will Do
- Perform accurate cash account reconciliations and conduct detailed analysis of escheatment and returned check activity.
- Lead monthly audits across multiple cash accounts to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Execute month-end close activities, including accruals and projections specific to check authorization processes.
- Support variance analysis for cash over/short balances and bad check expenses, providing timely explanations and insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, store personnel, and third-party vendors to resolve discrepancies and promote shared understanding.
- Prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Independently handle moderately complex accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation in accordance with internal standards and external compliance requirements.
- Ensure routine accounting tasks are performed timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate ownership by managing assigned responsibilities end-to-end, while proactively escalating complex issues to leadership as needed.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and provide support to peer teams on special projects or ongoing process improvements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for SOX compliance, including internal control testing for capital assets and payables with narrative maintenance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
4 years experience in accounting, tax, finance (public or private) or relevant experience
Demonstrated understanding of intermediate GAAP concepts and financial controls (to apply this knowledge to the design and execution of activities within the respective area)
Advanced skills in MS office programs (Excel, Word, Access)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
Lowe's accounting or finance experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) CPA or CPA candidate
