ResponsibilitiesNorthridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Microbiology department. This position plays a vital role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care.
Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including:
- Bacterial culture and identification
- Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Fungal culture and identification
- Parasitological examinations
- Molecular diagnostic testing (PCR, etc.)
- Prepare and maintain culture media and reagents
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and automated systems
- Ensure proper specimen handling and processing
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
- Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
- Participate in departmental quality assurance activities
- Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel and clinical staff
- Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
Qualifications- One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.
- AA degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, including a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science from an accredited college or university
- Current CA MLT license. (CT MEDTECH)
- Current Los Angeles City fire card is required. (CT Fire Card must be obtained within 90 days of start date. Classes offered at the hospital)
