Job Summary:
We are currently hiring for a Software Test professional to join our controls software test team in La Crosse, WI. The person who takes this position will be responsible for organizing, preparing, conducting, and reporting on the testing of embedded-based software for Trane commercial HVAC products.

Where is the work: This position has been designated as hybrid or remote.
What you will do:
- Serving as the Controls Software Test Lead on embedded controls product development projects as assigned. Responsibilities include:
- Participating regularly in project planning meetings.
- Ensuring that detailed test requirements are included in product requirements.
- Creating the test plan, including a plan for test automation when feasible.
- Providing estimates for testing schedules, test resources, and equipment needs.
- Coordinating the execution of test cases and automated tests on controls products.
- Verifying that all software defects are logged.
- Participating on the change control board.
- Keeping the project manager and department manager updated on the project testing status.
In support of individual projects, responsibilities include:
- Analyzing functional requirements, to generate a comprehensive set of test cases.
- Writing functional test cases and automated test scripts that provide comprehensive testing of the product requirements.
- Executing test cases and automated test scripts as part of formal product testing.
- Conduct exploratory testing based on detailed knowledge of the product under test.
- Reporting product issues within the defect tracking system.
- Verifying product defect fixes
General responsibilities include:
- Helping build and maintain the engineering test facilities (test room, test hardware and test software).
- Assisting in the development of hardware and software simulators when appropriate.
- Helping advance testing tools, technology, and processes within Controls Engineering.
- Making recommendations for improvement of the product testing process
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, HVACR Technology, or related discipline, or commensurate experience in software development or software testing is required.
- 2 - 6 years of experience in engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in software testing.
- Experience leading software test efforts.
- Experience testing and configuring embedded controllers is desired.
- Experience with automated testing is desired.
- Programming experience is desired.
- Knowledge of industrial/embedded controls and building control systems is desired.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle/chillers is desired.
- Course work or experience in the following areas is desired: current test methodologies, quality assurance practices, and object-oriented and component based product development.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000.
