Purpose:

Our Co-op roles encourage college students to explore their professional interests while working on real business projects. Our goal is to bring engineering students academic topics to life, give an opportunity to see what job opportunities are possible.
The position will be a part of the Supply Chain Product Management (SCPM) team supporting new product development (NPD) projects and development of supply chain digital tools within DePuy Synthes Spine. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing digital tools to gain efficiencies and increase visibility within the SCPM team. In addition, this individual will participate on NPD project core teams and work closely with representatives from Marketing, R&D, Product Development, Purchasing, Advance Sourcing, Finance, and Quality Engineering, as well as our external strategic suppliers. Experienced leaders mentor student contributions and support their technical and professional development during coop/internships. In addition to valuable work experience, students also can build leadership and functional skills through leadership exposure, training workshops on Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, presentation skills, communicating in the workplace at different levels and other enriching topics. The individual must be self-motivated and able to advance their own knowledge through training, independent investigation, and observation. In addition, candidate must be capable of working independently and in a team setting to support the advancement of NPD projects, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
You will be responsible for:
- Capable of performing critical thinking analysis and reports using statistical analysis, graphics, drawings, flowcharts, proposed layouts of processing areas and any other analytical tools.
- Takes actions in the absence of specific instructions.
- Leads and drives tasks and/or projects of low to medium level complexity ensuring regulatory compliance, company standards, operation requirements and business needs.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Company Policies and Federal, State and Local Government Regulations.
- Writes, develops, and implements documentation to support manufacturing and design decisions.
- Engaged with personnel at all levels within the organization as necessary.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Follow all environmental, safety and occupational health policies as required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at accredited University is required.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Industrial or related fields.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.
- Engineering courses align to process or product improvement.
- Interpersonal skills along with analytical, problems solving, and organizational skills, are essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI, SAP and Minitab is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
The expected pay range for this position is between $23.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
