Residential Construction: Strong understanding of building practices, materials, and project management within residential settings.
Smart Home Technology: Familiarity with current and emerging technologies that enhance home automation, connectivity, and energy efficiency.
Property Technology: Knowledge systems such as ClaimCenter, Xactimate and other supporting technology.
Policies and Best Practices: Proven ability to apply Nationwide standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices to ensure quality and compliance.

As a Consultant, you'll conduct advanced-level technical training classes and programs based on in-depth technical knowledge. You will act as a resource or subject matter expert to trainers and specialists for the design of training programs or projects. You'll be the highest level technical professional, where mastery of subject matter and most advanced skills are required to impact the organization.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Conducts sophisticated technical skills classes, courses and programs. May also conduct other lower level courses as needed. Schedules training courses and enrolls associates. Serves as a back-up to other instructors.
Provides continuous evaluation of responses and feedback relative to program development, administration and logistics.
Reviews course content and makes recommendations for improvements, modifications or continuation based on expertise. May also consult on development of materials.
Crafts the appropriate learning experience by researching standard methodologies in advanced technical areas to incorporate into class discussions or to adjust presentation materials. May provide basic needs analysis and process improvement consulting for assigned business units.
Serves as liaison to various Nationwide task forces based on subject matter expertise and projects as assigned.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to business unit Manager, Director or Executive or Learning and Performance Manager or Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree desired. Prefer adult education-related field or progress toward advanced degree in a related field.
License/Designation/Certification: Certification in recognized field of expertise (CPCU, AIC, API, AU, etc.) desired. In some business units there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications (i.e., FINRA series in Nationwide Financial). Progress towards learning certificate such as CPLP desired.
Experience: Typically requires 10 or more years of experience in area of technical expertise. Additional experience in project leadership, supervisory or adult learning desired.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Subject matter authority related to training area of responsibility with broad technical knowledge beyond area of expertise. Exceptional understanding of adult education concepts, learning styles, evaluation methods and process/workflow development. Strong instructional design and eye for business. Excellent communication skills. Proven track record to explain sophisticated technical concepts and to analyze program results and recommend solutions. Strong group dynamics and interactive skills. Strong project management and consulting skills. Ability to set priorities, manage time, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
