Director – Energy Management Solutions
What You Will Do:
As the Director of Energy Management Solutions, you will work collaboratively across multiple divisions and segments within Energy & Transportation, Construction Industries and Resource Industries, to define and develop electrification solutions involving asset and site level controls, hybrid energy systems, hydrogen infrastructure, machine charging systems and site level energy management. You will lead New Product Introduction efforts as well as manage the Large Electric Power Solutions OPACC Improvement Agenda (OIA). This is a leader of leaders role reporting to the Director of Engineering and Product Management within Large Electric Power Solutions- Electric Power Division (EPD).
Key Responsibilities:
Management of Controls and Hybrid R&D budget per year. This includes the management of the entire execution of the Electric Power controls platform from product definition/customer requirements, NPI management and engineering of the control system.
Development of requirements and management of R&D budget for Fuel Cells, Hydrogen Infrastructure, and Machine charging systems. This includes decision making on VC investments/partnerships and framework agreements with vendors in the Hybrid and Hydrogen infrastructure industry.
Serves as EPDs primary liaison to the Electrification and Energy Solutions Division, Resource Industries and Construction Industries Segments within Caterpillar for the development and execution of complete site energy management solutions for electrification. Requires coordination across senior leaders across the enterprise to accomplish this goal.
Manages coordination and execution of all Grid Code strategy work – ensuring Caterpillar is positioned with its controls platforms to meet all global grid code requirements for utility interconnection, which effects roughly 60% of the gas power generation business.
Manages and coordinates participation in utility / grid connection regulatory groups such as the European Commission/EN50549, IEEE1547/UL1741 US Grid Code. Leverages team of experts to help lobby for ease of Caterpillar Electric Power product connection to utility grids.
Manages Caterpillar’s power systems simulation strategy and team(s) to support the study of how different power assets behave when connected (ex PV, Batteries, gas gensets, controls). These simulations are a key part of the bidding process for large utility projects.
Manages LEPS (Large Electric Power Solutions) Engineering and Product Group OPACC improvement projects including reporting on 45+ active New Product Introduction programs across E&ES and EPD as well as the global Engineering Services growth initiative and associated workstreams.

Technical Excellence: Expert knowledge of hybrid power systems (battery, reciprocating gensets or controls) various application methods; ability to develop and provide site level controls and energy management solutions.
Communicating for Impact: Extensive knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.
Customer/Market Focus: Extensive understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
Managing People: Extensive knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams.
Collaborating Globally: Expert knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.

Summary Pay Range:
$185,400.00 - $278,160.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
