We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our team and contribute to upstream bioprocessing and vaccine development efforts. This role will focus on supporting laboratory operations, bioreactor activities, and process monitoring, while collaborating closely with client staff members. The position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced scientific environment, where accuracy, organization, and strong communication are key.
Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, and culture media
- Perform lab-scale upstream processing and provide needs-based purification support of vaccine products and process intermediates
- Set up and operate process equipment for lab-scale experiments
- Conduct in-process monitoring assays and collect relevant data
- Analyze, collate, track, and report experimental results to client staff members
- Maintain records and test results in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Work independently and efficiently while ensuring high accuracy in all tasks
- Document laboratory work clearly and thoroughly
- Communicate effectively with client staff members
- Occasionally support off-hour and/or weekend work (not to exceed 40 hours per week)
Education
- B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bio/Chemical Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
Experience
- At least six months of laboratory experience in upstream-focused bioprocessing (e.g., bioreactor operations, mammalian cell culture)
- General laboratory skills, including aseptic manipulations and pipetting
- Experience operating bioreactors
- Hands-on work culturing microbial and/or mammalian cells
- Performing basic cell-based assays (e.g., cell counting, optical density, metabolite analysis, imaging)
- Preparing solutions, reagents, and buffers
- Experience using formulas and linking spreadsheets in Excel
- Highly computer literate with ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems
- Strong scientific, organizational, and documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with adaptability and a positive attitude
- Ability to multitask, maintain accurate records, and comply with company policies
