Who we’re looking for
The Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Data and Technology (D&T) department is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Global Data Solutions Engineer to join our Global Data Solutions team.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker and hands-on technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment. As a Subject Matter Expert, you will deliver managed services across Profitability, Business Operations, Risk, and Global Treasury Solutions for Toyota’s global Sales Finance Companies (SFCs), leveraging D&T-managed applications.
You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure compliance with SOX and ITGC standards. Success requires deep expertise in data platforms, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to plan and execute long-term strategies.
The ideal candidate excels in communication—both written and verbal—and can engage effectively at all organizational levels. Strong presentation skills and a proactive communication style are essential for managing multiple priorities and delivering impactful solutions. You will be expected to provide clear, timely responses that foster transparency and alignment. Your ability to anticipate risks, plan proactively, and maintain organizational discipline will be critical in this dynamic environment.
Reporting to the D&T Global National Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering scalable, reliable data services across the TFS enterprise and its global affiliates.
What you’ll be doing
- Conduct ad hoc and strategic data analysis to support business decision-making.
- Use SQL, Python, and R to acquire, clean, and organize data from diverse sources.
- Perform data exploration, quantitative analysis, and creative problem solving to uncover actionable insights.
- Develop and implement solutions based on analytical findings to improve business outcomes
- Prepare profitability analytics tailored to consumer and business needs.
- Build deep expertise in TFS data systems, technologies, and business processes.
- Provide design and testing support for new and existing data projects.
- Collaborate with TFS business partners to define financial data requirements and reporting metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Enterprise Compliance, Information Security, and various business units to define and align on requirements, processes, and priorities that impact data models, reporting strategies, and operational efficiencies.
- Cultivate, build, strengthen, and maintain relationships, acting as a key liaison between global SFCs and internal D&T factories, EDM, and business units. This includes facilitating daily interactions, translating business needs into technical requirements, and ensuring the successful delivery and enhancement of profitability and management reporting solutions across daily, monthly, and quarterly cycles.
- Work collaboratively and communicate with team members across the organization, manage multiple priorities, and interact with/influence various cross-functional groups.
- Manage the delivery of a solution and resolve any blockers that prevent the progress of the project, sometimes even coding as needed to resolve the issues
- Manage and mentor a team of developers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and rapid delivery.
- Communicate clearly, promptly and effectively with stakeholders on technical solutions, business value, project progress, and challenges.
- Own and drive the technical roadmap for the team’s data products and services.
- Position the team as a Center of Excellence on risk analytics for AOR (America and Oceania Region)
- Proactively identify and communicate risks, blockers, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of data products and services in a fast-paced environment.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Math, Economics, Engineering, Analytics, or similar quantitative STEM fields.
- 2+ years of relevant professional work experience (paid, non-academic, non-intern).
- Advanced proficiency and professional experience coding in SQL, Python and/or R.
- Strong experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau & OBIEE.
- High proficiency and professional experience with data acquisition, data manipulation, data cleaning.
- Proven ability to identify trends and indicators through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Proficiency with statistics and predictive modelling techniques.
- Significant hands-on technical/analytical work experience relevant to this position, such as data modeling, data analysis, data warehouse engineering, and creating and managing data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge and experience in database technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, SQL Server, etc.
- Basic understanding of accounting processes, journal postings, balance sheets, and income statement reporting.
- Basic working knowledge of financial analytics, planning, budgeting, and cost allocations for margin/profitability analysis.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage audiences of varying sizes and levels of data governance expertise across all tiers of the organization.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others as well as work independently while in a hybrid work environment.
- Ability to break down complex problems into manageable components, enabling efficient analysis, clear prioritization, and effective execution of solutions.
- Project management experience with Agile Methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate promptly, clearly, and effectively with stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency, and timely delivery of solutions.
Added bonus if you have
- Advanced degree specifically in Computer Science, Finance, or Information Systems.
- Banking or financial services industry experience.
- Familiarity with Web Authentication products (i.e., Centrify, Okta).
- Working knowledge of deployment/configuration of connector server clients to enable SSO and MFA to multiple AD domains.
