Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Business Technology Platform Group is looking for a passionate and highly motivated SAP Technology Product Owner.
The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 1) Oversee the SAP development efforts of diverse and numerous consultants, 2) Manage SAP development projects end-to-end, and 3) Build, design, or remediate technical solutions that align with SAP Clean Core principles. All responsibilities require knowledge and hands-on experience with different SAP technologies including, but not limited to: ABAP Classic, ABAP for Cloud, Fiori, BTP Platform, SAP Build, Rest Application Programming (RAP) models, Clean Core Extensibility and principles.
The scope of work of this manager-level role is mostly related to enhancements, code oversight/review, production support oversight, project management (for technical initiatives), and upgrade execution. The role is ideal for someone who has worked in a complex, cross-functional environment, and understands the dynamics of safeguarding the integrity of SAP’s core/code.
Reporting to the SAP Technology Manager, the person in this role will support the Business Technology Platform group’ strategy to: 1) Enhance existing and new SAP code quality, 2) Promote SAP Clean Core principles, 3) Enhance Cyber-Security compliance, 4) Deliver business solutions using standard functionality and/or clean customizations, and 5) Define SAP development standards that guide a diverse population of ABAP consultants.
What you’ll be doing
Creating and regularly updating technical Best Practices that reflect SAP’s latest guidance.
Overseeing/managing SAP development work of numerous consultants including: process followed (how), code design and code quality review (what), alignment to KPIs/ SLAs, and resolution of technical issues/barriers.
Coach/train developers to acquire stronger technical skills across multiple areas with primary focus on Fiori UI5.
Identifying and solving development process gaps to increase efficiency, quality, and longevity of customizations.
Tracking and championing adherence to development SLAs among a diverse group of developers.
Securing technical knowledge retention within TMNA by ensuring Solution Implementer (SI) consultants adequately transition their knowledge to Production Support resources (AMS) and TMNA team members.
Escalating situations that need TMNA or SI/AMS management attention.
Project Management:
Managing development projects from start to finish.
Tracking progress based on objective input/data and correct behind condition/trend.
Producing status reports and other documents that quickly provide visibility on progress: Time, Quality, Cost, Resources.
Timely identifying risks and corresponding mitigation plans
Applying knowledge of basic IT SOX controls in all development project phases.
Development Delivery:
Optimizing the existing SAP code base by leading and supporting continuous improvement plans (including enhancements/projects) to maintain system stability, performance, and upgradeability.
Collaborating closely with other SAP functional and technical Product Owners (Basis, Middleware, Security) to ensure business requirements are being met through RICEFWs (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows), following Clean Core methodology and principles.
Planning, managing, and executing upgrade efforts including support packs and version upgrades.
Applying SDLC knowledge and enforcing Agile methodologies across all development efforts.
Creating clear and impactful presentations that inform others regarding the progress of key technical priorities or efforts.
Continuously learning about auto industry, TMNA manufacturing & accounting processes, and staying current on SAP latest guidelines, trends, and offerings.
Supporting other groups within BTP with a strong sense of collaboration, community, and synergy.
Perform end-to-end configuration of FIORI: extension and customization of standard FIORI apps.
Debugging and performance tuning in S/4HANA.
Troubleshoot Fiori Apps between Gateway and S4HANA backend system.
Work with SAP Integration Suite, PI/PO, APIs, and middleware for enterprise application integration.
What you bring
Minimum 8 years of SAP ABAP hands-on experience developing RICEFWs, CDS views, AO reports, SAP Fiori UI5, HTML5, Java Script, CSS3, JSON, XML.
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience using ABAP for Cloud language and Clean Core methodology.
S/4HANA hands-on experience with RAP models, CDS Views, AMDP, OData, and Fiori/UI5.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working on ATC and code remediation activities.
Minimum 6 months experience with SAP BTP extensibility, SAP Build and Business Application Studio.
Familiarity with SAP BTP Discovery Center
Knowledge of ABAP proxies, web services and APIs.
Experience with ABAP Query, Adobe Forms and ABAP Development Tools (ADT/Eclipse)
Experience with OData service consumption on UI using GET, PUT, POST methods.
Strong understanding of ChaRM for transport & change management
Experience with OSS notes, Support Packs, Enhancement Packs.
Hands-on involvement in at least one SAP version upgrade, SPDD and SPAU activities
SAP ABAP Cloud Certification.
Minimum 2 years of project management experience with small or medium projects, end-to-end.
Minimum 2 years experience overseeing other developers as a Senior Tech lead or similar role.
Experience in all phases of SDLC and hands-on experience with Agile methodology and tools.
Minimum 2 years experience/exposure to resolution of production support incidents and debugging.
Experience working with teams onshore and offshore with diverse competencies and abilities.
Experience with Full Life Cycle implementations serving in hands-on and leading capacity.
Sharp verbal and written communication skills to interact with numerous, diverse, and cross-functional resources.
Enthusiasm to take responsibility and initiative.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Added bonus if you have
Experience working on Clean Core remediation efforts. Good hands-on grasp of Clean Core extensibility concepts.
Strong SAP functional process knowledge
Project Management experience with medium to large projects.
Capacity to operate and succeed in a fast-paced, results-driven culture.
Detailed oriented personality who can also assess “the big picture” and pivot as necessary.
Strong sense of ownership
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration
