As a Land Technician Sr, you will serve as a subject matter expert on upstream land related initiatives that require broad and deep knowledge of land operations. In this role, you will be involved in complex land tasks, ensuring that our land dealings are executed professionally and efficiently. You will collaborate with a talented team of land professionals and cross-functional partners to achieve remarkable outcomes. Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Leads the preparation and management of complex land documents and contracts overseeing the end-to-end process of drafting, reviewing, and finalizing crucial land agreements
- Ensures all documents meet legal standards and company policies before execution
- Provides expert guidance on title and lease issue resolution tackling challenging title curative questions and lease ambiguities. Guides Land Technicians and Landmen through resolving title requirements from drilling opinions or curing defects in ownership, providing detailed analysis and recommending solutions based on extensive experience
- Drives land projects forward by ensuring all parties (internal and external) have the information and direction needed to complete transactions efficiently
- Prepares and executes critical supporting documents taking the lead on assembling and quality-checking all supporting documentation for major deals. Ensures thorough documentation and that all necessary approvals and notarizations are obtained for legal filings
- Prepares and reviews detailed documents and exhibits for State and Federal regulatory filings, coordinating closely with regulatory agencies to meet all requirements and deadlines
- Ensures all land records and actions comply with internal policies and external regulations, serving as a final checkpoint for quality and compliance on critical land work
- Provide general support to Land, Land Administration and Regulatory, including taking on any land-related tasks or leadership roles needed to support the department and company’s success
Education/Years of Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent. At least five to seven (5-7) years of experience in land support roles (Land Technician or similar), with a proven track record of handling increasingly complex responsibilities.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Land Management, Energy Management or a related field. 7+ years of experience in land support, or a combination of education and experience (for example, an Associate’s degree with additional years of experience). Professional certification in land or energy management (if available) is a plus
