Description

About the RoleThe ATDM Career Services Coordinator I is responsible for the successful placement of ATDM graduates in the Submarine Industrial Base (SIB)/Defense Industrial Base (DIB). The key to this role is the ability to foster relationships with the students to establish a career pathway prior to completion of the ATDM program. An ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as work effectively in a team-orientated environment, managing multiple timelines.
This position will support student job placement activities and resources. The Career Services Coordinator I will communicate with multiple stakeholders within an organization. An ideal candidate will possess a background in customer service, student services, or career counseling.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and enter data for the ATDM project in relation to student job placement in program/institutional database to ensure timely and accurate submittal to the ATDM for on-going reporting to stakeholders.
• Research SIB/DIB companies and job descriptions that align with the program and student’s skill sets
• Assist with employment events that expose students to opportunities in the SIB/DIB.
• Closely navigate each student through mandatory workforce training courses, which includes, but is not limited to, one-on-one support, resume and mock interview prep, and consistent review and documentation of students’ job searches, application submissions, job interviews, and job offers.
• Provide support to ATDM staff as needed
• Performs other related duties as required.
Work LocationWe are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, with at least two years of relevant professional experience required.
- A background in workforce development, including a thorough knowledge of best practices, is preferred.
- Experience in coordinating projects from idea into implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze research may be applicable to assigned project and/or for grant development and submittal. Strong organizational and planning skills to successfully manage multiple projects, well-developed written & oral communication skills, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse business groups.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Self-starter and able to work independently following written and verbal instructions, as well as work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop working relationships with other Human Resources professionals and Hiring Managers.
- Ability to work under stress, interruptions, and tight deadlines.
- Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard.
- Must be able to move from building to building, with limited travel.
- Light physical work may be required.
- Travel may be required.
