Description: You will be the Affordability Supply Chain Engineer for our Procurement team. Our team is responsible for ensuring that our products and systems are designed and developed with affordability in mind, collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to analyze and optimize costs.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Affordability Supply Chain Engineer, you will be responsible for leading programs to identify cost drivers and develop strategies to achieve affordability goals. You will work closely with design engineers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to integrate affordability considerations into the design process and identify areas for cost reduction.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading cost and lead time reduction workshops with suppliers
• Collaborating with design engineers to integrate affordability into the design process
• Identifying and evaluating alternative materials, processes, and suppliers to reduce costs and lead times
• Developing and implementing cost reduction plans with suppliers
• Providing affordability guidance and support to stakeholders
• Creating policies and training to drive affordability as a standard mindset
• Coordinating support for Cross-BA Value Engineering collaborative projects

Basic Qualifications:
• Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, Material Science, Systems), or related field
• 5+ years of experience in value engineering, cost analysis, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop creative solutions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Experience with cost modeling and estimation tools, such as Excel, CAD, and other engineering software
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain management
• Knowledge of Value Engineering and Affordability strategies
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
• Skilled in interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications
Desired Skills:
• Experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma principles
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
• Certification in affordability engineering or a related field (e.g., Certified Cost Engineer)
• Working knowledge of DoDI 5000.02 Operation of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework
• Familiarity Aerospace and Defense industry typical development processes
• Knowledge of nondestructive testing and inspection technologies

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
