What You Will Do:
- Lead the design and development of Cab Components including HVAC, seating systems, controls, and related subsystems to provide optimal user experiences within our Operator Stations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operator Station Engineers, Electrical & Software engineers, Manufacturing, Supply chain, and Commercial team to ensure seamless integration into our Operator Stations.
- Manage sourced component development timing, validation plans, cost, and overall quality.
- Conduct design reviews, DFMEAs, and support prototype builds and field testing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and ergonomic guidelines.
- Support root cause analysis investigation and resolution of NPI or CPI field issues and warranty claims.
- Actively support prototype, pilot, and production builds relating to machine platform and system level Cab components.
- Maintain documentation including CAD models, BOMs, Technical specifications, and test reports.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in cab component design and performance.
- Provide support for the local manufacturing line in the production of Cabs & assembly work.
What You Will Have (Basic Qualifications):
- Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering discipline; Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Component and product development or excellent analytical experience. Ability to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts.
- Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Ability to support issue resolution by applying basic engineering knowledge and working with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges.
- Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to approach problems logically, analyze data, and contribute to the development of practical solutions.
- Initiative: Intellectual curiosity and be a self-starter with the ability to work independently within a guiding framework.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Experience in Component design, development, including validation planning and execution.
- Working knowledge of common sheet-metal, plastics, and machining manufacturing processes, and/or applications.
- Working knowledge of bolted joints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stacks, FEA, structural design concepts.
- An understanding of Thermodynamic, CFD, Ergonomic, and User-centered design principles.
- Proficiency with Creo, surface modeling, and engineering drawings, including experience using Teamcenter Engineering to release product designs.
- Strong track record of effective supplier interaction and project management.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships across a matrix organization.
Additional Info:
- Office Model: This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
- Travel: This role involves up to 15% travel, both domestically and internationally. Depending on project requirements, travel to supplier locations, as well as other Caterpillar facilities may be necessary.
- Relocation: Domestic relocation will be available to those who qualify.
