LinkedIn is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to work within LinkedIn’s Physical Infrastructure Program Management team. The right candidate will have demonstrated leadership and technical acumen in leading teams and programs to deliver successful outcomes. You will be involved in strategy, inception, and execution of our infrastructure projects, as well as initiating, planning, and executing intermediate-to-large scale cross-functional programs. The ideal candidate has balance of people, organizational, and technical skills, and can execute successfully in situations where authority is not a given. Interaction and leadership across functional lines is essential.
Our Physical Infrastructure Engineering team powers LinkedIn by driving the full lifecycle of our data centers – from inception to delivery – while overseeing the critical systems and operations that form the backbone of LinkedIn’s services, development ecosystems, and the website you know today. As LinkedIn expands its global network and data center footprint over the coming decade, this team ensures our infrastructure continues to lead the industry in scalability, reliability, efficiency, and future readiness. We are the foundation that enables LinkedIn’s growth and innovation. Here’s what we focus on:
• Major Infrastructure Buildouts: Designing, expanding, retrofitting, and decommissioning data center capabilities at scale.
• Data Center Operations & Engineering: Driving forecasting, budget alignment, and resource optimization to maximize impact across infrastructure, financial, and product priorities.
• Operational Efficiency: Continuously improving processes and systems to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable infrastructure.
• AI Readiness: Leading GPU deployments and infrastructure modernization to power advanced AI and machine learning workloads.
• Modernization for Capacity and Network Optimization: Analyze network capacity requirements and coordinate with circuit providers to provision and scale network resources as needed.
• Supply and Procurement: Powering LinkedIn’s growth by managing a global portfolio of infrastructure procurement and supply chain networks that keep projects running seamlessly and reliably. From location strategy to portfolio management, this function determines why and how much infrastructure LinkedIn needs — ensuring the right resources are in place to scale for billions of users worldwide.
Responsibilities:
• Drive Communication and Insights with diverse technical and non-technical audiences that spans from VP to individual contributor, translating complex technical concepts into clear business terms and actionable insights and business impact. Leverage data analysis to define metrics and tell a data-driven story that guides key infrastructure scaling decisions.
• Lead Large-Scale Programs in data center and networking to ensure alignment with business goals and strategic objectives, delivering on schedule and within scope. Manage project interdependencies and technical aspects of project success while enabling broad stakeholder alignment.
• Ensure Clarity and Alignment on program objectives (e.g. data center build-outs), ensuring roles and responsibilities are well-defined. Proactively address conflicts or ambiguities with minimal supervision, keeping teams aligned and on track.
• Manage Stakeholder Engagement by working closely with executive sponsors and change agents to define project scope and requirements, and guide programs through their entire lifecycle. Set appropriate stakeholder expectations, with timely communication and escalations, to maintain executive alignment on critical initiatives.
• Apply formal change management practices to baseline programs at kickoff and evaluate all scope changes for justification and impact, obtaining necessary approvals. Anticipate program risks and issues; develop mitigation plans and solutions that ensure stakeholders remain informed and expectations are met.
• Simplify complex situations to facilitate clear, swift decision-making that keeps projects moving forward. Rapidly acquire domain knowledge and maintain technical understanding to actively participate in discussions with engineers and technical leaders, allowing you to guide decisions even in new or ambiguous areas.
• Optimize & Establish end-to-end program processes with stakeholders for gathering and fulfilling requirements. Continuously streamline workflows, tools, and processes to drive efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness in project delivery.
• Ensure project deliverables align with LinkedIn’s strategic vision, and translate project progress into the context of broader strategic goals. Use business acumen to identify optimization opportunities and drive effective decision-making in line with company strategy.
• Own the successful execution of critical, cross-functional programs from inception through completion. This includes managing executive expectations (communications, escalations, and updates) on high-impact projects, and designing processes that ensure high-quality outcomes. You will be responsible for consistently delivering complex projects on schedule and meeting their defined objectives.
