Job Summary
KBR is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our KBR team. This role will support the C-130J Program Office (AFLCMC/WLNN). The candidate should have demonstrated performance in DoD and industry systems engineering, be comfortable taking on different roles in a team, and work independently and proactively with diverse stakeholders and participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical inputs, evaluate and assess subsystem and system specification and technical documentation (including data, test plans and reports) in support and sustainment of the C-130J aircraft
- Evaluate technical risk, assess contractor efforts, performance progress, and resolution of technical problems
- Analyze technical proposals or modifications for design feasibility to contractual requirements and system compatibility
- Support Airworthiness Certification Working Group by developing and maintaining a comprehensive Modification Airworthiness Criteria Certification compliance package, and conducting an airworthiness risk assessment
- Support and evaluate avionics and aircraft system modifications and required certification efforts
- Plan and support the execution of Airworthiness Review Board Meeting in support of obtaining Military Flight Release (MFR)/Military Type Certificates (MTC)
- Produce draft technical and/or Acquisition documentation as requested or driven by programmatic requirements taking into consideration cost, schedule and performance
- Develop reports and briefings, plan and participate in Technical Interchange Meeting (TIMs), Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (including SRR, PDR, CDR, FCA, PCA, etc.), and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams
- Using Microsoft Office suite of applications/tools to develop and publish products for senior executive review, coordination and approval
- Establishing timelines for both quick-turn and longer-term projects and tracking progress through completion
- Prepping senior leader(s) for meetings and engagements, ensuring all relevant information is conveyed and understood to support discussions and decision-making
- Work with geographically-dispersed teams to produce documents and presentations for senior executive and stakeholder consumption
- Engage with customers at both working and senior levels
- Develop and execute project/program plans from tasking through completion using common IT tools and practices
- Professional writing skills, to include Staff Summary Sheets (SSS)
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Work Environment:
- Location: Hybrid
- Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
- Working Hours: Standard
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years’ total experience to include 10 years’ engineering experience with the DoD/Air Force required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree required
- Ability to balance multiple project efforts, meet schedules/deadlines, and interface with contractors, Government, and US military personnel at various levels
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Expertise and high level of proficiency with DoD acquisition process
- This position requires a government SECRET security clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with C-130 aircraft production and modernization
- Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) Level II or III Certification (or equivalent) in Systems Engineering
