Where is the work:
This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week in Montreal.
Job Summary:
We’re building a new Product Commercialization Department and looking for an organized, detail-oriented, driven, and collaborative Senior Technical Writer to play a key role in communicating product value and usability.
This role is ideal for an experienced documentation professional (5+ years) with a strong technical background, proven communication stills, and a passion for making complex software easy to understand. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our internal and external stakeholders – and customers - have access to clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation, spanning user guides, tutorials, feature documentation, release notes, and more.
You’ll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, customer support, and subject matter experts to deliver documentation that empowers users and supports successful product experiences. This position offers the opportunity to help define writing standards and best practices—and to continually evolve our knowledge base in line with product growth.
What you will do:
• Craft user-friendly documentation for internal and external audiences, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
• Develop and maintain internal documentation such as technical specifications, workflow diagrams, and knowledge base articles.
• Update documentation in alignment with new product releases and enhancements.
• Produce release notes to inform users of new features, enhancements, and fixes.
• Continuously enhance existing documentation based on user feedback and product changes.
• Regularly audit and review materials to maintain quality, adherence to standards, and usability.
• Collaborate with customer support teams to resolve documentation-related inquiries and issues.
• Partner closely with product managers, software engineers, and subject matter experts to gather information and clarify functionality and capability.
• Champion defining and refining our team’s writing standards, processes, document policy, and best practices.
What you will bring:
• 5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably within the SaaS or software development industry
• Exceptional writing and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong technical acumen and the ability to quickly understand complex concepts
• Proven ability to simplify and communicate technical material for a range of audiences and skill levels
• Proficiency with documentation collaboration tools (e.g. Confluence)
• Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines across multiple projects
• Ability to organize and structure documentation into business workflows, making documentation easy to find, access, distribute, update, and sunset.
• Able to identify when progress stalls and escalate appropriately to keep things moving.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Engineering, Computer Science, Communications, or related field
• Written and verbal fluency in French language
• Exposure to agile software development environments or SaaS product lifecycles
• Familiarity with structured documentation methodologies and content management systems (CMS) (e.g. DITA, Markdown)
• Experience facilitating user feedback cycles or quality audits for documentation
• Passion for sustainability, energy efficiency, or climate tech
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $70K-85K
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on Canadian national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
