KBR is seeking a Missile Systems Engineer to support U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) programs at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC focused on the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of advanced missile and weapon systems. This role requires technical expertise across missile subsystems and the ability to interface with government customers, industry partners, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong systems engineering background and experience supporting acquisition programs, system design reviews, and test events.

Work Environment:
Basic Compensation:
$134,100 to $201,000 annually
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, as well as internal parity considerations.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide systems engineering support for the development, integration, and fielding of missile systems.
Define, manage, and verify system and subsystem requirements in accordance with DoD standards.
Develop and review system specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and technical data packages.
Conduct system performance analysis, trade studies, and modeling/simulation to support design decisions.
Participate in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and provide technical recommendations to stakeholders.
Support ground and flight test planning, execution, and post-test data analysis.
Assess technical risks and support the development of mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with propulsion, GNC, seeker/sensors, avionics, and other subsystem teams.
Prepare and deliver technical briefings and documentation for customer and leadership review.
Ensure compliance with applicable MIL-STDs, DoD acquisition regulations, and ITAR/EAR export requirements.
Required:
Active DoD Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain).
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
8+ years of experience in missile systems engineering or related defense systems.
Strong knowledge of missile subsystem design (e.g., propulsion, GNC, sensors, avionics).
Experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes, requirements management, and verification/validation.
Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, STK, or similar).
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA), U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Army missile programs.
Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (Cameo, Rhapsody, MagicDraw).
Prior involvement with system flight testing or range operations.
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
